Texas Tech Adds Historic 7-Foot-1 Center to Lady Raiders Roster

LUBBOCK, Texas — January 5, 2026 — In a move that’s turning heads across women’s college basketball, the No. 21-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders have signed Stephanie Okechukwu, a towering 7-foot-1 center — potentially the tallest player in NCAA women’s basketball history. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Head coach Krista Gerlich announced the midseason addition Friday, bringing Okechukwu to Lubbock pending final NCAA eligibility clearance.
